In this video tutorial, we will work through the complete edit of two photographs of “Auroras”.

The first photograph was taken near the well-known mountain Kirkjufell in Iceland, where a beautiful reflection formed on a small lake.

The second is an HDR panorama taken in the beautiful village of Hamnøy in Norway, where we will learn to edit northern lights photographs in an urban setting.

What you will learn

Stitching panoramas in Photoshop’s Camera Raw.
Developing the RAW file in Photoshop’s Camera Raw.
Adjusting the image by reshaping and enlarging selected areas.
Enhancing the aurora’s light by painting through luminosity masks.
Managing the aurora’s colour to blend it naturally with the atmosphere of the rest of the photograph.

Enhancing detail and textures in selected areas.
Applying the Orton effect.
Reducing noise in stages.
Final adjustments and export for the web.
