{"id":5769,"date":"2020-05-30T11:40:09","date_gmt":"2020-05-30T11:40:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pruebafotografia7836.live-website.com\/?p=5769"},"modified":"2026-09-21T19:17:34","modified_gmt":"2026-09-21T19:17:34","slug":"jc-nuevo-como-se-hizo-la-isla-del-lago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/juliocastrofotografia.com\/en\/portafolio\/jc-nuevo-como-se-hizo-la-isla-del-lago\/","title":{"rendered":"Behind the image: The Island in the Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/juliocastrofotografia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/web-e2a715d181e536c7.webp\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption>Nikon D810 \u2013 Nikon 14\u201324 f\/2.8; 1.6 seconds, f\/10 and ISO 100<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In October 2018, just after the awards ceremony for the <strong>Trierenberg Super Circuit<\/strong> , we took a short trip through central Europe and visited the most iconic and best-known location in <strong>Slovenia<\/strong> : <strong>Lake Bled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This beautiful lake lies at 470 metres above sea level, measures 2,120 metres long by 1,380 metres wide, and has an average depth of 30 metres.<\/p>\n<p>In the middle is Slovenia\u2019s only natural island, home to several buildings including the 15th-century Church of St Mary.<\/p>\n<p>That morning I planned to shoot from a walkway beside the lake, but changed my mind at the last minute and raced uphill to the viewpoint used for this photograph.<\/p>\n<p>Many photographers were already waiting for sunrise, so I had to find a small gap between them to take my photographs.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>To include the whole lake, I photographed at 16 mm for around an hour as the light rose. With so many photographers there, I could only try a couple of compositions.<\/p>\n<figure>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/juliocastrofotografia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/web-6ef7c1a7e698e1ad.webp\" alt=\"\" loading=\"lazy\"><figcaption>CROPPED RAW IMAGE<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Back at the computer, I cropped the image to frame the lake more closely, as the wide angle had made it look too distant.
